The Kitchen Designer is akin to an artist with a blueprint. They are the visionaries responsible for turning your kitchen dreams into a reality. Here's what sets them apart:

1. Role and Responsibilities

  • They collaborate closely with clients, listening to their needs, preferences, and budget constraints.
  • Creating detailed kitchen layouts is their forte, optimizing the placement of cabinets, appliances, countertops, and fixtures.
  • Proficiency in design software allows them to create 3D models or blueprints, helping clients visualize the end result.
  • They provide recommendations for materials, color schemes, and design elements to achieve the desired look and functionality.

2. Expertise

  • Their communication skills are paramount, ensuring they understand the client's vision and can articulate it effectively.
  • Some may have knowledge of construction and building codes to ensure designs are compliant with regulations.

3. Goals

  • Kitchen Designers aim to craft well-designed, functional, and aesthetically pleasing kitchen spaces that perfectly align with the client's requirements.

The Kitchen Salesperson - Bringing Products to Life

The Kitchen Salesperson is the expert who helps you navigate the vast world of kitchen products and appliances. Their focus is on delivering the products and services that will make your kitchen dreams come true:

1. Role and Responsibilities

  • They possess extensive knowledge about kitchen products, brands, and pricing options available in their inventory.
  • Assisting customers in selecting the right kitchen products based on their needs, preferences, and budget is their forte.
  • They provide customers with valuable information on product features, specifications, and benefits to aid in informed decision-making.
  • Handling pricing negotiations, processing orders, and arranging for delivery and installation services are also part of their responsibilities.

2. Expertise

  • Kitchen Salespeople are experts in interpersonal skills and sales techniques, effectively assisting and persuading customers.
  • They stay updated on product releases and industry trends to provide customers with the latest and greatest options.

3. Goals

  • Kitchen Salespeople's primary objective is to generate sales, maximize profitability, and ensure that customers are delighted with their purchases.

In some scenarios, a Kitchen Designer may also take on sales responsibilities, especially in design firms or stores that require a comprehensive approach. However, it's important to recognize that these roles have distinct functions and areas of expertise within the kitchen industry.

Understanding the roles of Kitchen Designers and Kitchen Salespeople is vital for anyone embarking on a kitchen project. It ensures that you get the right support for your kitchen needs, whether you're envisioning a new space or seeking the perfect products to enhance your existing one.

Both roles play a pivotal part in bringing your kitchen dreams to life, making them truly the heart of the home.

The history of British housing design and more importantly Interior Design, has evolved a lot over the centuries. From the Tudors to the Georgians, the Victorians, and the Edwardian's, we’ve seen Interior Design and its features adapt and develop, become accentuated, and then understated. The 20 th Century brought a range of more affordable housing for the ever growing and ageing population. The beautiful ornate details were scrapped to make homes cheaper to build. Specialist skills slowly faded into the background and were forgotten about. Somewhere a long the way, the detail was forced out to make way for minimalism and simplicity. Modern homes being built today give less thought to the look and feel of the building’s interior in the way of character.
